<p>The invention relates to an arrangement for cooling the edge zone (20) of a polymer-coated roll (1) of a paper/board machine or pulp machine. The roll (1) comprises a roll (1) end (5), adjacent to which the edge zone (20) to be protected is located, a roll mantle (2) arranged to rotate around the shaft (7) or with the shaft (7), the said mantle being coated with a polymer (3) or corresponding material. The roll (1) forms a nip (N) with at least one counter-roll (8), through which nip the web material (9) can be conveyed. The edge zone (20) is a part of the roll mantle free of web material (9). Guides (6, 6') are provided in conjunction with the end (5) of the roll (1) and/or the edge zone (20), by means of which free cooling air (A) can be guided in the edge zone (20) of the roll (1). In addition, in the edge zone (20) of the roll (1) is provided a coating layer (4) of impact load (F) resistant material.</p> |
