PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of providing a notification to a user, which is the same as that obtained by a conventional electronic mail application, even when a document is sent by an independent transmission device. SOLUTION: The method comprises the step of providing a notification, which indicates that the document has been sent using the transmission device, to the user. In one embodiment, this method comprises the steps of identifying the electronic mail account of the user (406); and sending a transmission document copy to the electronic mail account of the user (414). In another embodiment, this method comprises the steps of identifying the electronic mail account of the user; and sending a notification to the electronic mail account of the user.
