A leak detection system Figure 1, ref. 10 for a flowing electrolyte battery comprising a containment member 12 associated with at least one of a stack 102 of a flowing electrolyte battery and an electrolyte reservoir 104 of a flowing electrolyte battery and a sensing member 50 for sensing a fluid leak within the containment member.
