PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a lead storage battery with lowered self-discharge rate without deteriorating expected life of the lead storage battery even when a great deal of minium is added to lead powder, a main raw material of positive electrode active material. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of lead storage battery using mixture of lead powder with minimum added as a positive electrode active material, the minium has an average particle size of not more than 2.2 times that of lead powder, with its volume of 10 to 50 weight percent of the mixture. And, preferably, the minium has the minium-turned rate of 80 to 99.5%.
