PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader having a replaceable light source that emits a light in the same color as a particular color to delete the particular color in an image of an original set on a contact glass face, reading image information emitted from the light source and reflected in the original face, provided with an original press plate having an original retaining plate to press the original onto the contact glass face, where the original retaining plate in a color in matching with the color of the light emitted from a replaced light source is equipped with the original press plate without troublesome labor when the light source is replaced to delete the particular color in the image of the original. SOLUTION: The color of one side of the original retaining plate 124 is white and the color of the other side is a particular color, and the original retaining plate is configured to be attachable to/detachable from the original press plate while turning the upside down.
