PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a raw material for a polycarbonate resin, and to provide a method of producing a polycarbonate resin both by a simple process and at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method of producing a raw material for a polycarbonate resin comprises mixing a bisphenol compound obtained in a melt state through the production process of the bisphenol compound with water into a liquid state at a temperature below the melting point of the bisphenol compound without solidifying, and then dissolving in an alkaline aqueous solution. The method of producing a polycarbonate resin comprises utilizing the above obtained alkaline aqueous solution for the production of the polycarbonate resin by the interface polymerization.
