TRANSLATION LOOKASIDE BUFFER WHOSE FUNCTION IS PARALLELLY DISTRIBUTED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the access time of a cache hit in a cache provided with a translation lookaside buffer(TLB). SOLUTION: In a computer system, this translation lookaside buffer(TLB) whose functions are parallelly distributed is provided with a small-sized and high-speed TLB (252) and the different TLB (254) of a lower speed though large-sized and the two TLBs are parallelly operated. The small-sized TLB (252) receives integer loading data and the large-sized TLB (254) receives other virtual address information. Between the two TLBs, by distributing the functions of loading and storing instructions and integer and floating point instructions, etc., while the small-sized TLB is operated with short latency and thrashing and similar problems are evaded, the large-sized TLB provides a large band width for the intensive operation of a memory. The mechanism also provides a parallel storage updating and invalidating mechanism (262) especially useful for cache tag design inspected beforehand.
