Ionised particle beam therapy device

The therapy device in which the patient has on a therapy table (4) beneath the radiation source (6), uses 2 separate imaging systems (11,2, 12,13,14,15) respectively providing an image of the part of the body requiring treatment and the part of the body beneath the radiation source (6) with information relating to the treated area entered via a manual input device (25). This information is processed to calculate the correct distance of the srouce (6) above the patient and to adjust the position of the patient beneath the source. (6). Pref. teh ionised particle beam is deflected in 2 orthogonal directions via scanning electromagnets supplied with AC signals for irradiation of a circular area of limited radius.
