PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition containing a specific benzotriazole ultraviolet light-absorbing compound, low in crystallization tendency and exhibiting excellent characteristic photostability. SOLUTION: This photographic element contains a ultraviolet light-absorbing compound of the formula [R4 is a (substituted) alkyl, or may further be bound to L or A* to form a ring; L is a divalent bond group; P is 0, 1; A* is an alkyl having an asymmetric carbon atom or asymmetric silicon atom]. The compound may be dispersed directly or as liquid drops in a photographic element. The compound may be added to a polymer latex as another method. Since the absorption spectrum of a coating film containing the compound exhibits higher light absorption and falls more sharply on the side of longer wave lengths, the coating film can be used as a photographic element.
