Shunting tractor for railway wagons

The shunting tractor has a supporting frame with one or more wheels and a drive device. The frame is formed by a magnet housing (7.2) and contains a magnet (7), with at least one magnetic pole (7.1) positioned next to the support plane (2) of the wheel. The magnet also has an associated stationary opposite pole (2). The magnet is height-adjustable relative to the support plane. The magnet housing carries one or two pairs of wheels. A magnetisable rail (2) is associated with every two wheels positioned behind each other in direction of travel, and a magnet is positioned between these wheels. The distance between rail and magnet is variable, and may be reduced to zero.
