<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal vapor discharge lamp having excellent lamp characteristics such as a life characteristic and the like by preventing the splash of an electrode substance to the inner face of an arc tube resulting from discharge generated by a current introduction body having a smaller work function than that of the electrode exposed in the arc tube at a starting time of the discharge lamp. SOLUTION: At least one end of a ceramic tube is blocked by a conductive plugs 2, 3, current introduction bodies 6 are airtightly passed through the plugs 2, 3, are extended into the ceramic tube, and are connected to the electrodes 5, and at least metal halide is filled inside so as to form an arc tube. Using the arc tube, the current introduction bodies 6 contain a recrystallization retarder, and the current introduction bodies 6 have halogen resistance and are covered by a metal containing the recrystallization retarder.</p> |
