<p>Apparatus for controlling access comprises (a) a passage provided with a barrier having an open position and a closed position, (b) means for reading fare data, (c) means for monitoring the position of a plurality of passengers in the passage and to provide corresponding signals, and (d) means for controlling the barrier in response to the fare data and the signals, and for associating the fare data with a given signal. The barrier includes a magnetic latch which can improve reliability.</p> |
