PURPOSE: To arrange a link mechanism for shift operation connecting to a shift rod not to raise the installing position of an engine, in an outboard motor having a rotary type shift rod to control a shift gear mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A shift input cam 73 provided to the side wall of the crankcase 7 of an engine E, and fluctuating by a shift operation lever, is connected to a shift output arm 77 through a shift link 78. A driving sector gear 83 provided to the lower end of a shift output shaft 76 to hold the shift output arm 77 rotatable; and a driven sector gear 84 provided at the upper end of a shift rod 22; are geared inside a flywheel housing chamber provided at the lower side of an engine main case in order to house a flywheel 16. |
