PURPOSE:To improve the electrolyte holding property and mechanical strength of a beta-lithium aluminate fiber used as an electrolyte-holding material of the electrolyte plate of a fuel cell or as a reinforcing material of the electrolyte plate. CONSTITUTION:A compound selected from the group consisting of aluminum salts, aluminum trioxide, aluminum trihydroxide or its hydrate and organic aluminum, a basic compound such as lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate, and a solvent capable of dissolving the basic compound are mixed with each into a slurry, which is dried to produce the beta-lithium aluminate fibers. |
