PURPOSE:To render centrifugal separation unnecessary and to enhance productivity by using a copolymer of an oil-soluble monomer good in compatibility with the binder resin to be used for a toner and a water-soluble monomer for improving electric chargeability characteristics. CONSTITUTION:The copolymer is prepared by emulsion polymerizing the oil- soluble monomer selected from an aromatic vinyl hydrocarbon monomer and (meth)acrylates and the water-soluble monomer having an anionic group, such as sulfonic, carboxylic, or phosphonic acid, in a solvent mixture of water and a water-miscible organic solvent in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer, adding an alkaline material to the obtained emulsion, heating it, and then, filtering it, thus permitting the centrifugal separation to be made unnecessary and productivity to be enhanced. |
