PURPOSE:To make it possible to secure a high reliability, by composing the inner lower part of a ring-formed sealing body in a taper form, and welding the upper side periphery of a separator to the taper-formed portion. CONSTITUTION:A ring-formed sealing body 3 has the inner side lower part of a taper form along the whole periphery. At the taper-formed portion 3a, the upper side periphery 5a of a separator 5 is welded along the whole periphery. Even though the electrolyte is spread from the separator 5 by pressurizing the separator 5 when it is sealed up, for example, the spread electrolyte is accumulated at a clearance 5b, and the possibility of the spread electrolyte to reach and wet the connecting surface between the sealing body 3 and the upper and lower terminal plates 1 and 2 tends to be reduced. And even though the spreading amount of the electrolyte from the separator 5 is increased owing to the increased pressure, the wetting of the contact surface is restricted, because the tapered portion 3a functions as a kind of protective wall. |
