A device for locating leaks in a pipeline, in particular in an approximately vertically extending pipeline, preferably a tubing system of a deep well, which contains a pressurised medium, is distinguished by a probe which can be introduced into the pipeline and has a test chamber which has a side aperture which is covered by the pipe inner wall when the probe is introduced into the pipeline, and is further distinguished by a through flow aperture for the medium, which connects the test chamber to the environment of the probe and in which a flow meter which transmits recordable measured value signals is inserted. The probe preferably has an elongated body on which at least two parallel, disc-shaped guide elements are arranged which project approximately radially outwards from the body, and a channel which conducts medium and opens at both ends of the body outside the guide elements extends through the body. The annular space bounded by the body and the guide elements is the test chamber with the open side aperture.
