The invention relates to a conveying device for metal strips, comprising a conveying channel through which a medium flows and which has inflow nozzles for feeding in the medium which are set at an angle to the metal strip in the conveying direction. The inflow nozzles are designed as conveying nozzles and the conveying channel is designed as a circumferentially closed channel. A gaseous or liquid carrier medium is used as the medium. For the floating conveyance of the metal strip surrounded by the carrier medium, the conveying nozzles produce a flow bed with a controllable flow velocity and a controllable pressure above and below the metal strip, the selected flow velocity of the carrier medium being considerably higher than the strip velocity.
