PURPOSE:The titled liposome having a membrane, constituting the liposome, and consisting of a lipid containing a specific amount of an ascorbic acid ester. CONSTITUTION:An improved liposome obtained by reinforcing a membrane constituting the liposome with a lipid, e.g. a phospholipid such as phosphatidyl choline, containing 0.1-20mol% ascorbic acid ester, e.g. higher mono- or diester of ascorbic acid. The liposome membrane is reinforced since the ascorbic acid enters between the bimolecular membranes of the lipid by addition of the ascorbic acid ester to the lipid constituting the liposome membrane and the hydrogen bonding zone is reinforced along with the hydrophobic bond. If the lipid contains an unsaturated carboxylic acid, the oxidation thereof is prevented. A sterol, e.g. cholesterol, may be added thereto to enhance further the strength of the membrane, and another electrically charged material, fat-soluble drug, etc. can be added thereto.
