PURPOSE:To improve driving performance by keeping line pressure at a large value during the period of time when a sudden speed change is required. CONSTITUTION:A line pressure control device is provided with a control pressure generating valve 146, a line pressure generating valve 198 and a transmission check valve 190 for checking the transmission of control pressure from the control pressure generating valve 16 to the line pressure generating valve 198 during the period of time when a sudden speed change is required. In this arrangement, during the period of time when a sudden speed change is required, the line pressure generating valve 198 is forced to operate in the same manner as the case where the control pressure is 0, to keep the line pressure at a large value during that period, whereby an output side movable pulley 42 of CVT is displaced by large line pressure to change a speed rapidly and improve driving performance. |
