PURPOSE:To shorten remarkably a preheating time, and to obtain a good fixed picture by providing a plate-shaped heating element whose length is the same as that of the axial direction of a fixing roll in front of said roll. CONSTITUTION:A plate-shaped heating element 12 whose length is almost the same as the length of a heating roll 1 is installed so as to be opposed to a paper feed guide 4 placed in front of said roll 1 and a pressure roll 2. When a suporting body 5 for holding a toner image 6 is fed in the direction as indicated with an arrow, it moves along the guide 4 and goes into a pressure-contact part of the rolls 1, 2. In this case, the heating body 12 is heated by supplying electric power, and the image 6 on the supporting body 5 is heated at the temperature above the softening point (100 deg.C-130 deg.C) of a toner. Accordingly, the image 6 becomes a half-melted state before it is fixed by the radiation heat of the heat generating body 12, therefore, the fixing can be executed satisfactorily without increasing the fixing pressure and the contact width of both rolls 1, 2. |
