PURPOSE:To learn the molten metal level by measuring an induced electromotive force of a detection coil generated due to a leakage magnetic field of a magnet for electromagnetic agitation with after it is provided at the top of a mold. CONSTITUTION:This utilizes that the leakage magnetic field HR of a magnet 2 for electromagnetic agitation buried in a mold 1 depends on the molten level (x). A detection coil 3 with several turns having an opening almost equal to the opening of the mold is set on the top surface of a mold 1 to gage an induced electromotive force (e) of the detection coil 3 being generated due to a leakage magnetic field HR piercing the cross-section thereof 3 among magnetic fields formed with the electromagnet 2 to measure the molten metal level (x). The magnetic field HR decreases monotonously with a rise in the molten metal level (x) thereby learning of the molten metal level (x) by measuring the electromotive force (e). |
