N-substd-(n-piperazinylmethyl)-4'-spirodibenzocyclo - heptadi-(or tri)-ene-5,2'-dioxolane (1',3')-useful as antitussives

Cpds. (I): (where Z is CH2CH2 or CH=CH and R is Ph2CH or 1-3C alkyl opt. substd. by OH, carboxylic acid esters (up to 5C), amides CON N being 1-4C alkyl or di-alkylamino, morpholino pyrrolidino or hexamethyleneimino) are prepd. by reacting a dibenzocycloheptene (II) with epibromhydrin are treating the prod. with N-R-piperazine. (I) are also useful as respiratory, aneleptics, hypotensives, anti-inflammatory, vasodilating, antiarythmic and antiulcer agents, sedatives and diuretics.
