The contents retainer is mounted on a road vehicle. It has a base and a locking strap, one end of which is attached to the base. The other is held in an opening in the base by a locking piece in a buckle. The locking piece is a free pin introduced into the buckle. It has stop recesses working with the opening of the base. The stop recesses are at the level of sides of a U-section member forming the base. The sides have aligned holes to receive the rod.
