PURPOSE:To increase a surface pressure between bores effectively by a method wherein a longitudinal reinforcing rib, connecting a lower deck to a top deck, is provided on a line connecting centers of respective bores between the bores of the cylinder head to prevent a stress concentration due to a combustion pressure. CONSTITUTION:The cylinder head 3 is formed with bolt holes 18 at the four corners of the cylinder head and both side ends of a space S between cylinder bores 2 and is clamped to the cylinder block 1 through bolts penetrated through the holes 18. A water jacket 20 is formed in the cylinder head 3. In this case, the reinforcing vertical ribs 21, connecting the lower and the upper deck under penetrating through the water jacket 20, are provided in the space S between bores of the cylinder head 3 on the line (l) connecting the centers of respective bores 2. According to this method, the clamping force of the head bolts may be transmitted from the top deck to the lower deck in the space S between the bores through the reinforcing ribs 21. |
