[Also in Division D1] A net-forming apparatus comprises a pair of press rollers 15 and 16, a spindle 8 extending upstream of the entry to the rollers and a rotary spool carrier 2 mounted on a pivotally drivable sleeve 7 carried on the spindle 8. The spool carrier has a plurality of thread spool carrying spindles 3 mounted thereon. There are also (a) a thread regulator 5 having a plurality of holes 6 therein corresponding to the desired spacing of the threads in the net to be produced, (b) thread guide eyelets 9 arranged on an endless belt 11 arranged to make reciprocating movements and (c) a thread coupling head 17 mounted for movement towards or away from the rollers 15, 16. A carrier material (18), (19), e.g. a foil of thermoplastic material, can be applied to at least one side of the net, e.g. at the rollers (15), 16, see Fig. 3, not shown. The coupling head 17 can apply adhesive or be constructed as a radiant heat-welding head so as to effect bonding of the threads. The rollers (15), 16 can also be heated to bond the threads or dry the adhesive. The threads can be made of filaments of thermoplastic material or mixed threads of thermoplastic material and natural fibres. |
