<p>Sheet material (14) is held between an upper tool (6), and a lower tool (8) that contains the mold cavity (13). A central spigot (18) moves downwards to pre-stretch the material through contact elements (32) at the end of hinged lever arms (24, 26). The other ends (28) of the lever arms bear against a cam surface (34) to force the contact elements (32) and the sheet materials (14) outwards, after which forming is completed by compressed air. The contact element (32) has a convex surface to reduce the contact area. The device is particularly suitable for non-circular cups, e.g. rectangular cups when four lever arms (24, 26) are used.</p> |
