<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell composed of a transition metal element and a chalcogen element which are high in four-electron reduction performance, and have high activity as the catalyst for the fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: This is the electrode catalyst for the fuel cell in which at least one kind of the transition metal element and at least one kind of the chalcogen element are carried on a conductive carrier, and this is composed of a core part composed of transition metal crystal and a shell part composed of a surface atom of the transition metal crystal particles and the chalcogen element coordinated at the surface atom, wherein the outer periphery of the core part is partly covered by the shell part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
