PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tightening mechanism for a belt member or a sheet member, which enables a worker to easily carry out winding work of a belt member or the like with a buckle member without any assistance, which makes the 'slide' of the belt member or the like itself reduce when the belt member or the like is strained and tightened, and which can prevent cargoes from being damaged even in the case where the belt member or the like is firmly tightened. SOLUTION: The tightening mechanism includes: a buckle member 2 to be mounted to the side of one end 10a of a belt member 10 to be wound around cargoes 100 and to fix or bind them together; a protective sheet member 3 having flexibility, which is fixed to the belt member 10 and which prevents the buckle member 2 from being contacted with the cargo 100 under the condition that the protective sheet member 3 is disposed between the buckle member 2 and the cargo 100; and an insertion part 3a provided at the end of the protective sheet member 3 and formed to length capable of being sandwiched or inserted between the cargoes 100. Under the condition that the insertion part 3a is sandwiched or inserted between the cargoes 100, it locks the buckle member 2 and the protective sheet member 3 to each other.
