PURPOSE: To selectively remove the chemical species from the liquid by allowing the liquid to contact with an element having a ligand for the species on its surface. CONSTITUTION: In the removing method of the species from the liquid, the liquid is brought into contact with the element having the ligand for the species on its surface. The element is incorporated with a supporting body sheet (e.g; cellulose acetate sheet) non-permeable to the fluid and a polymer layer (layer of a monomer such as acrylamide) sticking on the surface of the supporting body, and the ligand for the species is bound covalently on the surface of the polymer layer. In the selective removal of the species from the liquid, for example, in order to attain the removal of a specified protein from a mixture of proteins, the polymer must be minimum in non/specific adsorption on the element. An activated or activatable polymer is a hydrophilic polymer preferably and a chemical group giving the hydrophilic property is a hydroxyl group, etc. |
