PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train radio system and train radio ground base station in which possibility to interrupt communication is reduced by turning on/off an antenna of the ground base station while also utilizing speed information of a train. SOLUTION: A train 20 is provided which travels from a direction of a ground base station 10 to a direction of a ground base station 30 and includes an automatic train control device 21. When passing on a ground unit 213, the train 20 sends from the automatic train control device 21 to the ground unit 213 positional information including a distance from the ground unit 213 to the ground base station 30 and speed information of the train 20. Based on the positional information and the speed information input from the ground unit 213, the ground base station 30 determines a time T until switch changeover, starts communication with the train 20 after the lapse of the time T until the switch changeover. The ground base station 10 finishes the communication with the train 20 based on a control signal, which is sent from the ground base station 30, indicating that the time T until the switch changeover has elapsed.
