PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for alarming the breakdown of a vehicle are provided to immediately recognize the breakdown of the vehicle through a navigation device, set a destination by searching the destination in which the vehicle can be repaired and show way. CONSTITUTION: In a method for alarming the breakdown of a vehicle, a smart junction box informs the malfunction of the vehicle. The method for alarming the breakdown of a vehicle comprises: a step in which the smart junction box transmits data about the breakdown of the head lamp of the vehicle or a tail lamp to a navigation device (S120); a step in which the navigation device receiving the data outputs a notification message about the breakdown of the head lamp or the tail lamp to a display unit (S130); and a step which outputs the notification message confirming whether a destination of the navigation device in which the head lamp or the tail lamp can be fixed is set or changed after the notification message is output (S140).
