PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device with a simple structure, which protects a switching element from induction voltage which a motor generates due to reverse input torque while not connected to a direct-current power source.SOLUTION: A first drive portion 43 of a motor drive device 40 converts the power of a battery 20 by an inverter 60 to drive a motor 45. A relay 41 is connected to a high potential electrode line L1 between a high potential electrode 21 of the battery 20 and a high potential side of the inverter 60, and a diode 51 is connected in parallel with the relay 41. The diode 51 makes a current pass in a regenerative direction (an arrow R) from the high potential side of the inverter 60 toward the high potential electrode 21 of the battery 20. Therefore, induction voltage which the motor 45 generates due to reverse input torque from a load side can be released to the battery 20 through the diode 51, and a switching element configuring the inverter 60 can be protected from the induction voltage. |
