PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide thermally expandable microcapsules hardly causing rupture and shrinkage even at a high temperature, and capable of foaming in a high foaming magnitude. SOLUTION: The thermally expandable microcapsules are provided by including a volatile expanding agent as a core agent in a shell consisting of a copolymer, and the volatile expanding agent contains an alicyclic compound having an alkyl side chain.
