PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method by which optional luster is imparted on a metallic luster surface with a simple process in the formation of the metallic luster surface of the recording medium.

SOLUTION: The recording method includes: a step of forming a first dot group by discharging droplets of an ink composition and depositing the droplets on the recording medium; and a step of forming a second dot group by depositing a luster ink composition containing a color material comprising plate-like particles at least on the first dot group.
