PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system including a compact focusing lens group, having a small image magnification change in moving the focusing lens group, and correcting an image blur due to vibration applied to the system. SOLUTION: This zoom lens system includes a plurality of lens groups and an aperture diaphragm disposed in the lens groups. The plurality of lens groups include: a negative lens group disposed on the object side from the aperture diaphragm, having negative power with the largest absolute value in the whole system and moving in the direction along the optical axis in zooming; a focusing lens group disposed in the optical path between the negative lens group and the aperture diaphragm, and moving in the direction along the optical axis to vary the distance to the negative lens group in focusing; and a correction lens group disposed on the side of the focusing lens group and moving in the direction orthogonal to the optical axis in correcting an image blur due to vibration of the zoom lens system.
