<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of improving the efficiency of fetching light by enhancing the efficiency of condensing light on a predetermined small-diameter area though its constitution is simple and compact, and to provide a video display device. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device has a light emitting tube 20 and a reflector 44. The electrode shafts O1 of the main electrodes 21 and 22 of the light emitting tube 20 are made to cross with the optical axis LA of emitted light, and the reflector 44 made of metallic base material is formed of a first reflector part 45 comprising a spherical surface and a second reflector part 46 comprising an ellipsoid in front, and a lens which condenses emitted light and radiates it to a predetermined direction or area is provided inside the second reflector part 46.
