PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that obtain stable image quality for a long period by eliminating transfer of toner filling a crack to a recording material in secondary transfer even if the crack is made on a belt surface and filled with the toner when the belt is used as an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus equipped with at least a photoreceptor drum 10 (image carrier), an intermediate transfer belt extended among a plurality of extension rolls 24A to 24F primarily transferring an image on the photoreceptor drum 10, and a secondary transfer roll 26 secondarily transferring an image on the intermediate transfer belt 12 to the recording material, the secondary transfer roll 26 and intermediate transfer belt 12 are arranged while pressed against each other, and an outer peripheral surface of the intermediate transfer belt 12 is brought into contact with the secondary transfer roll 26 in conformity with its external shape.
