The plunger (10) for a cartridge for holding and pressing out of paste substances has on the outer side (15) of the plunger wall (14) at least one elastic encompassing blade (16) of plastic which is orientated at an angle outwards in relation to the end wall (12) of the plunger and lies with pretensioning on the inner wall of the container which houses the plunger. The blade on side facing away from the plunger wall has at least one protrusion. An independent claim is included for a cartridge for holding and pressing out paste substances and which is equipped with the proposed plunger.
