<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image defect in a stripe state occurring because developer (toner) T adhering to an electrifying member 2 is discharged at a position corresponding to the paper edge of a medium to be recorded in a cleaner-less system image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Transfer voltage is controlled so that positive potential gradient may be provided at a position on an image carrier (photoreceptor) 1 corresponding to the paper edge.
