PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to locate spacers for keeping a gap between two substrates at flat portions of one of the substrates, thereby obtaining the stability in the positions of the spacers and stably keeping the cell gap. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a lower substrate(10) defined with a plurality of pixel areas by intersection between a plurality of gate lines(22) and data lines(62), a plurality of thin film transistors formed in the respective pixel areas, and a plurality of pixel electrodes connected to the thin film transistors respectively, an upper substrate(200) having a plurality of color filters(220) corresponding to the pixel areas and common electrodes(240) formed on the color filters, and spacers(100) attached to either one of the upper or lower substrate to be positioned to flat portions of the other substrate.
