METHOD FOR MEASURING TENSILE STRESS OF SHADOW MASK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and highly accurately measuring tensile stress at an arbitrary position of a shadow mask mounted in a tensioned state on a frame. SOLUTION: The shadow mask 10 mounted on the frame 20 is pressed at its prescribed position by a load cell 60 and a gauge head 61 to measure a load and displacement. This operation is repeated two times. The load, displacement, and other positional dimensions are substituted into the following formula to find tensile stress T0. The tensile stress T0 is expressed by T0=[F1×(Y0R2+ X12)1/2×(Y0R2+X22)1/2-Y0R}/ (Y0R/Y0L+1)X1}-F2×(Y0R2+X22)1/2×(Y0R2+ X22)1/2-Y0R}/ (Y0R/Y0L+1)X2}]/(Y0R2+X22)1/2-(Y0R2+X12)1/2}.
