Catalytic converters which operate in a dust-laden waste gas can become blocked by the individual particles (4, 5) contained in an incoming gas. The inventive catalytic converter body (1) therefore comprises a number of first longitudinal channels (2) as well as second longitudinal channels (3), the second longitudinal channels (3) having a larger channel cross-section than the first longitudinal channels (2). The invention hereby enables the individual particles (4, 5) to pass through whilst retaining the advantage of a high specific surface per volume space of the catalytic converter.
