PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery, in which a light and thin battery case, excellent in moisture proofing ability and improved in molding ability, is used instead of a metal unit battery case. SOLUTION: A battery has components including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a case to seal electrolyte filled therein and a cover material. The case has a first layer 2 containing polychlorotrifluoroethylene layer, an innermost layer 3 formed of ionomer, ethylene-methylmethacrylate, ehtylene- ethylacrylate, ehtylene-methacrylic acid copolymer or maleic acid modified olefin and an outsidemost layer 1 formed from a 0.01-0.07μm thick multilayer film of polyester, on which silica is vaporized. The reduction rate of electrolyte after left at 60 degrees C for 168 hours is 0.5% or less.
