Vehicles which are driven by muscle power (bicycles) reach relatively low average speeds. Furthermore, a relatively large amount of power has to be expended to provide propulsion, having a tiring effect when the bicycle is used for relatively long periods. The generator (2) is made to move by muscle power with a relatively low expenditure of power. The generator supplies the electric motor (3) with current and the output of the motor is controlled in an infinitely variable way by means of an adjustable resistor. Since the output of the motor is higher than the manual power output, higher speeds are achieved. Generator, operated by muscle power, for driving electric vehicles, in particular bicycles.
