The coupling is in the form of a socket of cast GS (German Silver) which is fixed mechanically to the base of the post, with a sleeve (3) of a thermo-shrink material covering the whole of the contact zone between the two. The socket has an open slot and is fixed in place by locking screws (5, 6) which close the slot and tighten the socket round the base of the post after it has been cleaned and the sleeve, made from a synthetic material, has been fitted.The socket has projecting lugs with slots in them for fixing to the ground. ADVANTAGE - Requires no welding or adhesive.
