The straight pipe drawing uses a number of stages with a corresp. number of mandrels (2-4) inserted in the (1), each held in place by an indentation (10, 11) in the latter preceding the next die (6) in the drawing direction (5). Before the drawing starts, the necessary number of mandrels are inserted in the initial part of the pipe between the indentation (10) behind the last and largest mandrel (2) and the drawing clamp (9). As drawing proceeds, the other mandrels (3, 4) are moved forward with the pipe, a further indentation (11) being formed in the latter close behind each mandrel and after the proceding die.
