<p>PURPOSE: To control the position, shape and temperature of flame by using a lance having a flow-in end part and ending at an axially asymmetric remote part, i.e., a gas flow-out end part, discharging a reaction-rate enhancing gas. CONSTITUTION: A gas lance has an asymmetric flow-out end discharging an asymmetric gas flow. For example, an axis symmetric drum section 6 has a flow-in end 7, and a lance flow-out end having a flow-out port 9, i.e., an opposite end 8 coupled with the forward end 5. The forward end 5 enlarges asymmetrically in the axial direction from the opposite end 8 to the forward end 5 to provide a flow-out port 9 having a flat substantially rectangular profile significantly wider than the flow-in end 7. Gas flows through the drum section 6 from the flow-in end 7 of axially symmetric profile. When the gas enters into the forward end 5, it takes an asymmetric shape to provide flat velocity characteristics of asymmetric gas delivering from the flow-out port 9.</p> |
