PURPOSE:To obtain a feed additive for ruminants, excellent in properties of bypassing the rumen of the ruminants and good in preservation stability, by mixing a granular substance containing a biologically active substance surrounded and coated with a protective substance with talc. CONSTITUTION:A granular substance having properties of bypassing the rumen of ruminants is produced by surrounding or coating a biologically active substance (e.g., methionine or vitamin A) with a protective substance. A substance consisting essentially of a 14-22C straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, hardened vegetable oils or animal oils (e.g., beef tallow oil) is suitable as the protective substance. The resultant granular substance is then mixed with talc to produce a fed additive for the ruminants having improved properties of bypassing the rumen without causing caking in preservation and transportation. The amount of the added talc is preferably about 0.1-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. granular substance. |
