PURPOSE:To make constant the ratio of applied energy reduced and contantly obtain favorable printing quality, by using one of voltage-comparing circuits for determining a reference energization time for heat generating elements in a thermal printer, and using the other for determining a reduction in energization time according to driving history of the heat generating elements. CONSTITUTION:With an inverter 43 connected to an output terminal 24 of an energization duration controlling circuit (CTCC) 40, an operating time for a head driver is determined by a transistor 44, and a reference energization time for heat generating elements 45 is determined. Outputs from output terminals 25, 26 of the CTCC 44 are inputted to a CPU 50, which determines a reduction of time from the reference energization time according to the driving history of the elements 45, and outputs the data obtained by the reduction through a head data output 48 in synchronism with the timing of the outputs from the output terminals 25, 26. The reference energization time is determined by the head driver, and the reduction in energization time is determined by the output of the head data from the CPU 50. |
